The first question people ask when you arrive in Central Oregon is “what do you do?” because it’s somewhat of a coup to figure out how to live in this singularly beautiful, active, and just urban enough town. Bend is well on it’s way to becoming a mecca for independent workers and startups because many of the people who work here, or chose to start their businesses here, could go anywhere.

Now because of BendTECH, we no longer need to languish at home with the dishes in the sink, in a noisy coffee shop, or isolated in boring executive suites. There’s a small army of successful independent professionals in this town, and coworking is an emerging way to have better work/life boundaries and community. You get all the perks of working with people, with the freedom of working on your terms.

Startups looking for flexibility and resources have long found a home at BendTECH, formerly TechSpace Bend, since 2010 at two locations downtown. Our new home at 1001 SW Emkay with Stackhouse Coffee, Five Talent, Pneuma33, Kollective, and Seven Peaks Ventures is a sweet spot for entrepreneurial activity.

Just last week, Sonny of Handsell and Shannon of Volcano Veggies pitched here at the BVC Unconference, while lots of new folks got to check out BendTech for the first time. Every month, we have member happy hours, lunches and events. This Wednesday, Oct 21st, we’ll be hosting a Tech Talk with speakers from The Hartford, Lumbermens, and Karnopp Peterson on protecting your work and customer data. The talk will be brief and there will be pizza and beer, yay!

Tech Talk

Please contact me, Tierney, if you’re interested in membership and would like a tour. We added four new desks, have one office available, and expect to be full by winter. (the former home of this here blog:) will relaunch soon as a platform to promote our startup and independent professional community, additional furniture and fun stuff is on the way, and more exclusive membership benefits will be announced soon.
