There’s no doubt that Bend Research has played an integral part in the formation of Bend’s burgeoning bioscience and entrepreneurial community. You can hear more about the company’s history at a unique panel discussion hosted by BendBio Wednesday, April 13.

Drew Bledsoe, former NFL player, current Bendite and owner of Bledsoe Capital Group and Doubleback Winery, will talk with Rod Ray, former CEO of Bend Research and now a member of the company’s scientific and business advisory board. The discussion will focus on Central Oregon’s entrepreneurial spirit and Bend Research’s contributions to Bend.

Ray began at Bend Research in 1983 and held various positions with the company, which was acquired by New Jersey-based Capsugel in 2013. Bledsoe is no stranger to entrepreneurship himself, launching his Walla Walla-based winery and serving on the board of Bend-based startup whurk.

Dr. Knute Buehler, local surgeon, business owner and state representative, will kick the evening off with a presentation, “Why Bend is a Model City for Entrepreneurial Activity in Oregon.” They’ll be networking with other bioscience and entrepreneurial types, appetizers and a no host bar.
